Applications Open for a Reconfigured Parks Advisory Commission!
Mayor McHenry and the Duvall City Council are pleased to announce the formation of a new Parks Advisory Commission (PAC), created to strengthen community involvement in shaping the future of Duvall's parks, trails, and open spaces, as well as the recreational programming offered in Duvall. This commission will play a key role in advising the Mayor, City Council, and staff on parks, trails, and open space programming, funding, long‑term stewardship, and opportunities to enhance residents' quality of life. By bringing together community voices, the City aims to ensure that our parks continue to reflect local values, support healthy lifestyles, and remain vibrant public spaces for all.
We are now accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the reconfigured commission. Ideal applicants are community‑minded individuals who care deeply about parks and recreation, enjoy collaborative problem‑solving, and are eager to contribute their time and perspective. If you're passionate about helping guide the future of our parks and trail system, we encourage you to apply.
Pursuant to Duvall Municipal Code (DMC) 2.16.020, the PAC shall be composed of a minimum of five and a maximum of nine members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Members shall serve without compensation and be appointed to three-year terms.
Members of the PAC must be residents of Duvall or live within the boundaries of the Duvall Urban Growth Area. The City Council and Mayor shall strive to maintain Duvall residents as the majority on the commission. Provided, however, that if a commission member living in the City moves outside the City limits within the UGA, they will not automatically be disqualified from continuing to serve, even if it creates a majority of nonresident commissioners. The Mayor and City Council will also strive to appoint PAC commissioners who represent a diverse range of qualifications, skills, backgrounds, and interests.
