Big Rock Road Reservoir and Booster Pump Station Improvements
The City of Duvall is beginning design work on planned improvements to the Big Rock Road Reservoir and Booster Pump Station (BPS). These two facilities are key components of the City’s drinking water system, helping to store and distribute water throughout the community.
Purpose of the Project
This project focuses on maintaining reliable water service as the city grows and ensuring that both the reservoir and pump station continue to operate efficiently for decades to come. The design phase will evaluate system performance, explore potential upgrades, and prepare detailed construction plans.
What the Design Includes
During design, the City’s consultant team (RH2) will:
Inspect and assess the 2.2-million-gallon reservoir, including its coatings, structural elements, and overall condition.
Evaluate options for improving the reservoir’s operation, such as mixing systems, sample stations, and access enhancements.
Analyze the existing booster pump station to determine the best approach for adding a fourth pump and optimizing pump operation to meet current and future water demand.
Review system hydraulics (how water moves through the network) to confirm pump sizing, flow capacity, and overall efficiency.
Prepare detailed design documents including 30%, 60%, 90%, and final bid-ready plans—along with cost estimates and coordination with state agencies such as the Department of Health.
- Assess the smaller Crestview Estates Reservoir, exploring ways it might be brought back into regular operation.
Timeline
Design: Mid-2025 through Spring 2026
Bidding and Contractor Selection: Spring 2026
Construction: Anticipated Fall 2026
Project Progress
The City began this process in May 2025 by issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for design services. Six firms submitted proposals, and RH2 Engineering, Inc. was selected as the design consultant. Since then, RH2 and City staff have been busy gathering information to guide the design.
