Ronn Mercer joined the Duvall City Council in 2021 and was elected to a full term in 2023. Unanimously selected as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2025, he leverages over 30 years of project management experience in the tech sector and more than a decade of public service to champion transparency, collaboration, and community-driven governance.
Before his Council appointment, Mayor Pro Tempore Mercer served two terms on the Duvall Planning Commission, including several years as Chair. He is a highly credentialed municipal leader, having earned both the Certificate and Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC). He is also a graduate of the Washington Collaborative Elected Leaders Institute, an immersive leadership program created and offered by AWC in partnership with the Ruckelshaus Center (a joint effort of Washington State University and the University of Washington) and the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance.
Mayor Pro Tempore Mercer represents Duvall’s interests through several key appointments:
- Sound Cities Association: Public Issues Committee & PIC Nominating Committee.
- Association of Washington Cities: Legislative Priorities Committee.
- National League of Cities: Small Cities Council & LGBTQ + Local Officials Group.
Ronn holds a B.A. from Washington & Lee University, an MBA from the University of South Carolina, and a Certificate in Software Product Management from the University of Washington.
A 20-year Duvall resident, Ronn lives with his wife and has two adult children. Outside local government, he is an active community volunteer and a professional dive master. He remains dedicated to advancing a resilient, connected, and welcoming Duvall for all.
