Building Permits
Duvall Municipal Code Title 10, Building and Construction, Chapter 10.01 Construction Codes, requires that any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a structure. A permit is also required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by Chapter 10.01, or to cause and such work to be done, shall first make application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit.

You may pay by credit card through the online permitting portal. For cash or check payments you may pay in-person during office hours. The City of Duvall does not issue Electrical Permits. Contact the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) as the agency that has the authority to issue Electrical Permits in Duvall. Contact L&I at 425-990-1400, or visit the L&I Website for more information.

After obtaining the proper permits any person may work on their own property, whether they occupy the property or not. Owners of commercial properties may use their own employees to do maintenance, repair, and alteration work on their own properties. A tenant may work on their tenant space with permission from the owner. See RCW 18.27.090 for more information.
